  • Why did the Ute go to war with the Mormon Settlers?

The colonists were progressively taking over Ute territory and depleting it of its wildlife and resources.  Feeling the invasion by the Mormons progressively getting worse, the Ute conducted a series of raids on the Mormon settlements.  This was known as the Walker War, and resulted in the relocation of the Ute onto the Uintah Valley Reservation upon orders from US President Abraham Lincoln.
